A bow should be kept and drawn, a string should be released for a shot only with a hunter's muscle power, and it should have the force of tension not less than 18 kg or 40 pounds (lb). The clamping force is measured in kilograms (pounds) that are required for tensioning of a string with the length about 71 cm (28 inches) to its arrowhead. Clamping force is usually marked on a bow by the manufacturer;
- A crossbow should have the clamping force to the fixed bow string not less than 45 kg or 100 pounds.
An arrow for a bow should reach at least 61 cm (24 inches), a crossbow arrow length is unlimited; an arrowhead should be made of hard material, have sharp cutting edges and width of the basis at least 2.2 cm (seven-eighths of an inch), or the cutting edges should be opened to this width when contacting with a game.
